The Fidelis was conceived to allow hospitals and manufacturers rapid access to traceable measurements for a wide range of medical and industrial radionuclides. The NPL designed ionisation chamber is integrated with a flexible electrometer and user interface supplied by Southern Scientific. This enables users to rapidly perform accurate and traceable measurements for the calibration of reference instruments or for research purposes.
Each ionisation chamber is built to the same specifications as the NPL secondary standard master ionisation chamber and is tested and certificated at NPL before delivery to the customer. The extensive list of NPL calibration factors is available with the calibrated instrument and can then be used for accurate activity measurements with full traceability to the UK primary standard maintained by NPL. Additionally, any new NPL calibration factors derived for emerging radioisotopes will be made available to the users of these systems.
