Measurements of OC and EC in ambient air are required by the European Air Quality Directive. These measurements of the carbonaceous contain of aerosols are crucial in assessing emissions from solid-fuel burning devices such as domestic stoves, as well as aerospace and vehicle emissions
NPL has an ISO17025 accredited facility for the measurement of OC and EC on filters. These measurements can be performed using a range of protocols such as NIOSH and EUSAAR2, and are in accordance to the European standard EN16909
