The European standard (EN 12341) for the gravimetric determination of PM10 and PM2.5 mass concentrations in ambient air contains rigorous requirements for filter conditioning and weighing. Filters that are incorrectly conditioned or weighed compromise the accuracy of measurements of particulate matter concentration and increase measurement uncertainty.
