Addressing gaps in testing standardisation for materials in hydrogen

Join the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) and the Henry Royce Institute for a focused one‑day workshop dedicated to advancing the standardisation of materials testing for hydrogen technologies. As hydrogen continues to play an increasingly critical role in the transition to a low‑carbon energy system, the need for reliable, harmonised, and service‑relevant testing protocols has never been greater.

This event brings together leading experts, researchers, and industry practitioners from across the hydrogen value chain (storage, distribution and use) to build a shared understanding of current testing and certification practices. Through a series of technical presentations, facilitated discussions, and interactive breakout sessions, participants will collaboratively identify the most pressing gaps in existing standards and prioritise the areas where alignment is urgently needed.

By the end of the workshop, attendees will have contributed to the development of actionable steps aimed at establishing consistent, robust, and future‑ready testing frameworks—supporting the safe, effective, and sustainable deployment of hydrogen technologies in the UK and beyond.

Agenda
Start 09:30 – Close 16:00
