The signing of the MoU is a statement of commitment from the two organisations to collaborate on multiple government and agency funded projects, including those meeting UK national needs.
Over the coming years, NPL and OneWeb will focus on the following:
- Collaborating on OneWeb Gen2 Position, Timing and Navigation (PNT) system time scale design
- Seeking NPL’s certification on OneWeb’s Gen1 Timing service
- Using UTC(NPL) as the source of time for OneWeb Timing and PNT service
- Exploring opportunities for OneWeb to access a service node from NPL’s developing NTC Programme
OneWeb sets out to remove the barriers to connectivity that are holding economies and communities back. As the home of UK time, NPL is ideally placed to support them in this endeavour and collaborate to overcome national needs.
