Dr Peter Ivanov, Principal Scientist in the Nuclear Metrology Group at NPL has been appointed as a Visiting professor at the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Surrey.
Prior to the appointment, Peter has served as the Science Area Leader in the Nuclear Metrology Group and had a one-year secondment at the International Atomic Energy Agency Laboratory in Monaco to lead the radiochemical method development work for corroboration of the radiation measurements in Fukushima site. Peter has contributed to high-impact NPL-led scientific outputs linked to both the Life Sciences & Health and Energy & Environment thematic areas. He has also co-supervised a number of successful PhD and Master research students and is looking forward to developing these areas further in the coming years.
Peter Ivanov, principal scientist, said: “This appointment resulted after years of collaboration between the Radiochemistry team at the Nuclear Metrology group and the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. Working even closer with the University of Surrey is a step in the right direction and will enable further strengthening the scientific relations with the University and allow development of advanced capabilities at NPL for addressing the Grand challenges in the Life Science and Health area, including the development of medical radionuclides and radiopharmaceuticals for cancer diagnosis and therapy. “
