Laurence is the Group Leader for the Medical Radiation Science group in the Chemical, Medical & Environmental Science Department
Laurence graduated with a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering, from the University of Southampton in 1999. Joining NPL shortly after in the Force, Torque and Hardness group, where he later took over the re-establishment of the UK national hardness standards. Transferring the national standard back from IMGC to the NPL and representing the UK in Hardness measurement and research.
Laurence later led projects and research in areas such as drug coatings on stents and interfacial pressure measurements. In 2012 he then headed the Acoustic and Ionising Radiation divisional project management office, helping to define and improve procedures and best practice across the business, working closely with the Group leaders.
Laurence has now been the Group Leader for the Medical Radiation Science group since 2016.
