Originally a chemical oceanographer, Jennifer Clarke previously worked as a postdoctoral researcher focusing on developing and testing instrumentation to measure in situ carbon dioxide, pH, and other associated parameters in marine environments. She collaborated internationally both with other academics and industry, taking part in international research cruises, fieldwork, and conferences.
Jennifer joined NPL Management Limited in 2017, originally working as a business development specialist focusing on building NPL’s instrumentation sales, before transitioning to international development manager. She worked across the organisation to deliver collaborations, sales and research partnerships with other National Metrology Institutes, big science organisations, government, academia, and industry.
She is now the operations leader for the Chief Scientist, working at the interface of strategy, governance, and operational implementation. She is passionate about creating opportunities for scientists to develop through her work at NPL with the Directors Science and Engineering Fund, International Secondment Scheme, and Daphne Jackson Fellowships. Jennifer is a keen member of the UK Young Academy, STEM ambassador and member of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
