Reliable measurements are essential for turning hydrogen technologies from promising concepts into deployable systems. Whether you are developing new materials, comparing device performance, assessing durability, or using test data to inform investment and policy decisions, the quality of measurement matters.
This three-day NPL course provides theoretical and practical training in proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC) and water electrolysers (PEMWE), alkaline water electrolysers (AWE) and anion exchange membrane water electrolysers (AEMWE). Through expert lectures and hands-on laboratory sessions in NPL’s specialist facilities, participants will learn how to make, interpret and report measurements with confidence, using international standards and recognised best practice to ensure repeatability and reproducibility.
By the end of the course, participants will have a stronger understanding of:
As the UK’s National Measurement Institute (NMI), NPL brings a measurement-led perspective to hydrogen technology evaluation. Participants will learn not only how tests are performed but why measurement quality, traceability, uncertainty and standards are central to credible technology assessment.
