Opthalmic lens calibration service

Enabling accurate production of contact and spectacle lenses

Reference lens calibrations can be performed using:

• lenses used to verify telescopes for testing the refractive and prismatic power of plano lenses (as described in section 6.1.3 of BS EN ISO 18526 1:2020, Eye and face protection – Test methods); and
• lenses described in section 4.2.1 of BS EN ISO 9342 1:2023, Optics and optical instruments – Test lenses for calibration of focimeters.

Other types of lenses used within instruments and optical systems can also be calibrated, giving both back vertex and effective focal lengths at different monochromatic wavelengths.
