Robin McIver
Chief of Operations
Robin joined the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) in September 2026 as Chief of Operations (CoO).
Previously, Robin spent 15 years at King’s College London, working across strategy and operations. Initially serving as Director of Strategy, Analytics and Planning, and later as Deputy Chief Operating Officer, Robin oversaw operations, faculty finances, business planning and strategy, including the transformation of professional services. He has extensive experienced in the design and delivery of new target operating models and in leveraging technology to support organisational change. He also led work on issues relating to freedom of expression amongst the Executive Team.
Prior to his appointment at King's College, Robin worked in management consulting, working for clients in London and New York. He began his career as a graduate trainee at British Airways.
Robin studied at Queen’s University Belfast, where he earned a degree in Geography and a master’s degree in Information Management. He holds a postgrad certificate in Global Affairs from New York University and is an alumnus of Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Programme.
Robin lives in south London with his wife Kate and has a teenage son. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, hiking, and swimming.
