Robert Gunn is responsible for development and implementation of NPL's international strategy, ensuring it is integrated with other NPL strategies and, maintains and enhances NPL's reputation and influence as a leading NMI with a growing overseas business. This includes coordinating NPL's representation in the high level BIPM and EURAMET committees.
He is responsible for coordination of NPL – and other UK Designated Institutes (DIs) – bidding into the EU metrology research programmes, to optimise opportunities and use of the UK's bidding allocation. He also ensures appropriate governance is in place for the delivery of the Management Support Unit services to EURAMET, which operates the EU programme.
Prior to joining NPL, in 2014, Robert was a civil servant. From 2001 until he joined NPL, he was responsible for oversight of the National Measurement System programmes.
