Rajesh Chandra Misra

Higher Scientist

Dr. Rajesh Chandra Misra is a higher scientist at NPL in the Biometrology Group as a member of the Engineering Biology (EngBio) team, where he is contributing with advanced molecular biology approaches to engineer synthetic organisms to have new abilities.

Rajesh studied Biochemistry and Biotechnology at the Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CIMAP) and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JUN), India, receiving his PhD in 2018. He obtained a postdoctoral fellowship to conduct his research in the Department of Biochemistry and Metabolism at the John Innes Centre, UK, from 2018–2025. His research focused on understanding the metabolic capacity of plants to build complex chemical structures and bioengineering of plant metabolic pathways. The interdisciplinary nature of his work bridges the gap between biology, chemistry, and engineering, leading Rajesh to join NPL in 2025, aligning perfectly with his multidisciplinary background and expertise.
