Geoff was the Engineering Director and former board member at Renishaw Plc. He led the engineering & research function and was also responsible for group IP and patents. He resigned from Renishaw in September 2021 after a 27 year career. He rejoined the company in May 2025 with a focus on new and disruptive technology.
Geoff is a Fellow of The Royal Academy of Engineering, a member of the Institute of Physics and holds both BEng and DEng engineering degrees. He is a visiting professor at the University of Bath and an honorary professor at Heriot-Watt University, and a part-time professor at the University of Huddersfield.
He joined Renishaw in 1994, working on R&D in Edinburgh before moving to Gloucestershire to head up the CMM products division in 1999. He has a broad engineering experience and is a named inventor/co-inventor on over 100+ patents. His expertise spans precision metrology, medical device, manufacturing processing and most recently metal additive manufacturing technologies. Geoff is also a non-director with several SME technology companies that he is helping to commercially mature. He has served on the Euspen Council (European Society for Precision Engineering and Nanotechnology) since 2015.
