John Devaney received his PhD from the Photonics Research Group at Aston University, Birmingham. After post-doctoral work at the University of Bristol, John worked as a journalist and editor at the Institute of Physics and in photonics market research.
John worked for 18 years at the British Standards Institution in project, committee and team management, most recently working on energy, sustainability and smart cities. As Quantum Standards Manager for the National Physical Laboratory, he is responsible for effective involvement in national, European and international standards development for the UK quantum technology sector.
