Joanna Cavan

Jo Cavan brings more than 25 years of experience spanning national security, telecoms, government and the technology sector, with deep expertise at the intersection of technology, security and resilience. For the past 12 months, she has led the UK Telecoms Lab (UKTL), the nation's capability for telecoms security research and testing.
Jo served as Director of Strategy and Delivery at the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT). Prior to this, Jo held senior roles at the Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), the National Technical Assistance Centre (NTAC) and as an independent expert witness in forensic telecoms and radio frequency (RF) engineering.
Jo was awarded an OBE for services to security and technology in the Queen’s Birthday Honours (2016). Jo is a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion across national security and technology sectors.
