Mike Lamont served as CERN’s Director for Accelerators and Technology from 2021 to 2025, leading the teams responsible for the design, upgrade and operation of CERN’s unique accelerator complex.
He joined CERN as a fellow in 1989, working on SPS and LEP operations before becoming LEP Machine Coordinator. He later led the commissioning of the LHC, before progressing through CERN’s accelerator management roles to the Directorate.
He remains active in advisory and review roles across the international accelerator community.
