Benjamin White is a scientist at NPL, working across the quantum photonics and quantum sensing groups. He earned his MPhys (Hons) in physics from Swansea University in 2022, where his research focused on nuclear magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy to quantify in vivo neurotransmitters using standardised protocols.
Benjamin joined NPL in 2023 as a graduate scientist and completed a two-year rotational scheme between the quantum photonics and quantum sensing teams. During this time, he characterised optical power meters, quantum key distribution systems, and single-photon detectors within the photonics group, and worked on the characterisation of superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs) in the sensing group. Now, as a scientist, he splits his role 50:50 between photonics and sensing, contributing to the development and characterisation of advanced quantum technologies.
