Ateeq joined NPL in 2013 after completing his PhD in Semiconductor Physics from the University of Nottingham. Before then completed his BSc Eng Physics with Nanotechnology and MSc Nano Electronics at Denmark’s Technical University and The University of Manchester, respectively.
As a scientist Ateeq had taken a lead role in the design, fabrication, and cryogenic measurements of novel nanoscale lateral pn junction devices in III-V semiconductors. He has built several optoelectronic measurement capabilities for research and commercial use.
With over 10 years of experience working across NPLs quantum technologies team, Ateeq has also developed a wide breath of technical knowledge away from his core-research area. Since 2022 Ateeq had also taken on a second role as technical Business Development lead for Quantum technologies, supporting UK industry engagement and events as part of NPLs involvement in the UK’s Nationals Quantum Programme.
