Growing the UK’s quantum ecosystem through co-ordinated standards

The Quantum Standards Network (QSN) online Community has opened its doors today (29 September). The online community provides a dedicated digital space for innovators, researchers, businesses and policymakers to share knowledge, access training and insights, connect with experts, and engage in discussions that help shape the future of quantum standards.    

This announcement marks an important milestone for the Quantum Standards Network, the UK's national initiative for quantum technology standardisation, led by NPL in collaboration with partners including BSI, UKRI National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC), National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and UKQuantum. The network was established to coordinate the UK's efforts on quantum standards and support the ambitions of the UK's National Quantum Strategy. 

Designed as a collaborative space for the UK's quantum community, the new online platform gives members access to the latest developments in quantum standardisation, opportunities to engage with experts, and resources that can help organisations navigate the rapidly evolving quantum landscape. 

By joining the community, members can: 

• Learn how standards support innovation and accelerate the commercialisation of quantum technologies. 

• Explore the emerging quantum standards landscape and understand the frameworks shaping future development. 

• Connect with experts and organisations across the UK's growing quantum ecosystem. 

• Access insights, guidance, webinars and community-exclusive events. 

• Contribute expertise and help influence future standards development activities. 

New members are also invited to register for the first dedicated QSN community webinar, "Quantum Standards Network: Connecting the community, shaping the future”, taking place on 10 November. Join live in the community for an introduction to QSN, the community that underpins it and why quantum matters to the UK. Get international and industry perspectives, learn how standards are starting to shape the field and how you can get involved, and hear from all the core QSN partners, including a spotlight on quantum computing.
