Jordan Tompkins is a Senior Scientist in the Air Quality and Aerosol Metrology Group and has spent 16 years working in the areas of ambient and industrial air quality. Jordan leads the impact work package on the EMPIR project AEROMET II and is Technical Lead on the Environment Agency air quality network for particle counting and sizing. He is also coordinating Measurement Services in the particulate detection and sizing areas. Jordan has more recently developed an NPL capability to measure aerosols in dental surgeries as a response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Jordan is a MRSC member of the Royal Society of Chemistry and recognised as an expert in the nanoparticles aerosol area, both nationally and internationally. He is often called upon to provide the Environment Agency with expert advice on particle measurement devices and contributes significantly to ISO TC24 SC4 WG9 & WG12.
