Gloss Measurements
Measurements of gloss can be carried out for any flat or pseudo-flat reflecting object. All standards are measured according to ISO 2813 (1994) and ASTM D523 (1989) for gloss at 20°, 60° and 85°. The reference gloss meter used at NPL uses a tungsten source, with filter, to provide a close match to CIE Standard Illuminant C and a filtered silicon detector providing a good approximation to the photopic response function, V(λ). A pre and post cleaning measurement are standard. More complex measurements at multiple angles and wavelengths are also available as a consultancy.
Clients will receive a calibration certificate or NPL report, as appropriate (available as both electronic and hard copy).
