Nicholas graduated from the University of Glasgow with an MSci degree in Mathematics and Physics in 2020. Later that year, he began his PhD at the University of Glasgow in partnership with NPL and Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology.
The aim of this project is to develop superconducting, low-loss, through-silicon vias compatible with superconducting qubits and to use these to enable the development of a 3D, scalable, qubit architecture. He is currently based in Glasgow and carries out fabrication work at the James Watt Nanofabrication Centre.
