Dimitrios Sagkovits

Scientist

Dimitrios Sagkovits is a PhD student at National Physical Laboratory, at the department of Quantum Technology, in collaboration with the Spintronics group at University College London. He is also part of the Centre for Doctoral Training in Advanced Characterization of Materials.

His research is focused in the field of 2D materials for the investigation of atom – light – spin interactions and spin transport in low dimensional systems. He aims to fabricate novel van der Waals heterostructures, characterize them and study their magnetic dynamics.

Dimitrios graduated with a MEng from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, followed by MSc studies at the University of Sussex. During his studies, he developed a strong interest towards emerging quantum technologies. His scientific interests include 2D materials, magnetism, spintronics, nanofabrication and quantum computing.
