Elizabeth is a scientist in the Time and Frequency group, working on the generation of the UK’s Time Scale UTC(NPL) and precise time transfer techniques. She studied in London at UCL and Imperial College and has a PhD in Laser Physics. This was followed by a fellowship at the RIKEN Institute laser technology lab in Tokyo, and postdoctoral research in the Paris Observatory’s optical frequency metrology group.
Areas of interest
Elizabeth’s current research interests include UTC time scale generation, delivery of the NPLTime® service for the Finance Sector and precise time transfer over optical fibre. She is leading work packages in the European H2020 project CLONETS on strategy and innovation for clock services over optical-fibre networks, and the EMPIR project WRITE on White Rabbit for Industrial Timing Enhancement.
