The National Laboratory Alliance (NLA) is a collaborative group of Public Sector Research Establishments (PSREs) established to help strengthen government science capability and further the effectiveness of individual members as well as the collective value of PSREs.

The NLA creates opportunities for its members to increase individual effectiveness through knowledge sharing, co-developing capability, sharing facilities as well as working together to provide mutual support to enhance the nation’s capability in emergency response.

Alan Brewin said of his appointment: “Bringing these PSRE’s together as a community has provided real benefits in sharing good practice and experience. I look forward to building on this with NLA colleagues particularly around skills and talent.”

Members of the NLA include: NPL, Met Office, National Nuclear Laboratories (NNL), UK Health Security Agency, Fera Science Ltd, Defence Science & Technology Laboratory (DSTL), Centre for Environment, Fisheries & Aquaculture Science (Cefas), Animal Plant & Health Laboratories Agency (APHA) and Health & Safety Executive Science and Research Centre (HSE)
