The use of AI and Machine Learning is increasing in industries that demand greater levels of reliability. If Autonomous systems cannot be validated as safe this will either create a growing risk for humans or slow down the deployment of such systems and their accompanying benefits.
NPL is working to address the challenges of assuring the reliability of autonomous systems through the establishment of a national measurement infrastructure, including current work to specify a Sensor Assurance Framework for CAV to support reliable development, testing, validation and certification.
Joining AESIN will facilitate the collaborative innovation, sharing of expert knowledge and best practice between NPL and fellow members, including leading academics and industry experts. As the UK’s National Metrology Institute, NPL is working to ensure the UK can harness and exploit digital infrastructure and AESIN creates an environment where leading global experts can network to enable the technologies for the vehicles of the future.
