NPL has today published its Annual Review for 2020, highlighting the work conducted by our scientists and engineers, throughout 2020 and the achievements and milestones reached in our 120th year.
During a year of uncertainty our role has never been more varied, from new customers with new challenges seeking out our measurement expertise as part of our Measurement for Recovery (M4R) programme, to innovating new ventilator designs and supporting the NHS with understanding and providing confidence in data during the initial stages of COVID-19.
CEO, Dr Peter Thompson FREng, stated “the sheer scale of work undertaken in 2020 is testament to the incredible people across NPL. We have over 1,000 scientists, engineers and skilled professionals who continue to work together to deliver exceptional science and engineering. The annual review highlights the role of a National Laboratory in the context of a global pandemic, and how our metrology work continues to support UK industry and deliver on our vision to create extraordinary impact from excellence in science and engineering.”
