Abstract: Increasing the durability of engineering systems can be realised by controlling the wear mechanisms that cause degradation at contacting interfaces and surfaces. This can be achieved through innovative design, and improved choice of materials and coating technologies to enable a system to achieve its designed lifetime and efficiency. This webinar demonstrates how the application of world leading measurement technology has given the capability to generate better understanding of wear and friction behaviour. This will enable assured data to be gathered on engineered surfaces giving the potential to make a major contribution to the goals of net zero and the sustainable use of materials.
