Virtual Workshop

Measurement Technologies in Nanomedicine

Advancing Measurement Technologies and Standards for Nanomedicine

Nanomedicines and nano delivery systems are employed to deliver therapeutic agents to specific targeted sites in a controlled manner. Although nano drug delivery systems that cover a diverse range have been a research hotspot for a number of years, recent success in lipid nanoparticle technology that allow delivery of nucleic acids intracellularly have placed nanomedicine at the centre stage.

The availability of robust and validated analytical methods and formally recognised consensus standards continue to lag, slowing progress and complicating the regulatory process. The objective of this workshop is to come together on efforts to develop, validate and apply new measurement methods and standards for nano-enabled medical products, with a particular emphasis on lipid-based technologies.

The intent of the workshop is to provide a virtual platform for industry, regulatory, and research scientists to discuss recent advances and practical challenges, and to identify and prioritise specific measurement and standards needed to facilitate preclinical development and regulatory approval moving forward.

*The chairs welcome broad participation from industry, regulators, and government or academic researchers.

Please note: recordings of the event will not be made available and registration is encouraged for all those who wish to participate.

Workshop agenda

The meeting will take place on-line over three half day sessions, 14-16 June, 2021, with the following themes:

14 June: Nanomedicine – technology and applications
15 June: Regulatory science issues and perspectives
16 June: Standards and measurement development

Each day’s workshop will last for approximately 4 hours, with a combination of presentations and moderated panel discussion. Sessions will begin each day as below:
