However, wear and tear and faults mean that there is always a need to stop a production process to provide a service. Using appropriate sensors in conjunction with relevant statistical mathematical models can result in an ability to predict machine failure and to monitor ongoing performance. The Industrial Internet of things (IIOT) includes the use of sensors, sensor systems and associated networks and modelling that can be used in predicting machine failure. In addition to this, these same sensors could also provide useful information about machine performance and provide feedback to the machine to maintain it's performance at the highest possible level. Our speakers will discuss practical approaches to how this can be achieved with examples of real life systems and provide information on the potential of current and future prediction systems.
