19 February 2024
16:00 - 18:30 BST

Thermometry in harsh environments and on surfaces

Join us for this event to learn about developments in temperature measurement with topics including thermometry for harsh environments, surface thermometry with thermographic phosphors, practical Johnson Noise thermometry and in-situ self-validating thermocouples.

You will have an opportunity to engage with the speakers through a question and answer panel session to find out more and perhaps to help with your own challenges in temperature measurement.

Data and Knowledge Modelling for Manufacturing Applications

Join us at the Data and Knowledge Engineering for Manufacturing Applications Event, a cutting-edge gathering focused on the intersection of data modeling and ontology engineering. This event explores how these crucial techniques empower manufacturing entities to enhance their understanding, accessibility, and reusability of data, all while building greater trust in their own knowledge resources. Discover innovative solutions, industry good practices, and real-world case studies that demonstrate the transformative impact of data modeling and ontology engineering on the manufacturing landscape.

With talks from:

Paul Duncan (NPL) - Introduction to Digital Manufacturing at NPL

Joao Gregorio (NPL) - Data Modelling to Quantify Data Quality

Michael Chrubasik (NPL) - Knowledge Engineering for Pharmaceutical

Metrology of semiconductors: Part 2

Semiconductors are a critical strategic technology that contribute to the UK’s prosperity, security, and resilience. Semiconductors already have a foundational role in society, as well as enabling important future technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, next-generation communications, and quantum technologies. The manufacture of semiconductor devices is enabled by cutting-edge metrology, due to the extreme demands for nanoscale precision, material quality, and process control.

The UK semiconductor manufacturing industry has particular strength in compound semiconductors and other advanced materials, whose unique properties enable applications that are not possible with the more established silicon technology. These applications include laser technology, telecommunications, sensors, photonics, photovoltaics, and quantum devices.

This webinar is the second in a series on metrology for semiconductors where we will present a broad range of topics from NPL and other partners related to measurement science that is supporting the UK’s semiconductor industry.
