Siobhan Straver

Siobhan Straver

Scientist

Siobhan is a scientist assisting in measurements and coordinating instrument maintenance and calibration across the Electrochemistry Group. Her present work is focused on measurements carried out on polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFC) and polymer electrolyte membrane water electrolysers (PEMWE).

Siobhan completed a BSc in Natural Sciences at the University of East Anglia in 2018, where she focused on a combination of Chemistry and Environmental Science and received the Faculty of Science Prize for academic achievement. Following this, she undertook a summer placement with the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), focusing on organic electrolyte redox flow batteries, and worked in inorganic chemistry for Affinity Water before joining NPL in 2020.

Areas of interest

Siobhan’s research interests focus on electrochemical energy storage technologies and related operando diagnostic techniques, as well as the interface between electrochemistry and renewable energy. She is active in NPL’s research themes of energy conversion for the hydrogen industry (fuel cells, electrolysers) and energy storage (batteries, supercapacitors).
