Guido Wilpers

Senior scientist

Guido received his PhD from the Leibniz University in Hannover in 2002, in collaboration with PTB in Braunschweig studying ‘An Optical Clock with Cold and Ultracold Atoms’. After his PhD Guido spent time at NIST in Boulder, CO on an Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship before joining NPL in 2005 where as a Senior Research Scientist in the Quantum Information Processing group his work is predominantly concerned with developing scalable entanglement in trapped ion optical qubits for applications in metrology and information processing.

Areas of Interest

  • Ion microtraps for quantum technologies
  • Scalability of ion microtraps for quantum metrology
  • Metrology and characterization of industrial laser systems
