Anna Subiel

Anna Subiel

Higher scientist

Anna Subiel was awarded PhD from the University of Strathclyde in 2014 working on the application of relativistic electron beams from laser-driven accelerators as potential novel radiotherapy sources. In 2014 Anna joined Radiation Dosimetry group at NPL and since 2015 she has been responsible for establishing a new dosimetry service for the pre-clinical radiotherapy and provision of traceable dosimetry for X-ray cabinets and image-guided small animal irradiators. Anna is leading developments of metrology for advanced radiotherapy with ultra-high dose rates, which include very high energy electron (VHEE), laser-driven beams and FLASH radiotherapy sources. Anna is supervising a number PhD and MSc students and has been awarded with Chartered Physicist qualification by the Institute of Physics. She is also an Honorary Lecturer at UCL Research Department of Oncology and holds Honorary Research Position at UCL Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering Department.

Areas of interest

Anna’s main research activities involve radiobiology, radiation dosimetry, Monte Carlo modelling for advanced radiotherapy and applications of highly innovative approaches in cancer treatment. Anna has also a very strong interest in the application of high-Z nanomaterials as radiosensitizers, definition of biologically relevant dosimetric quantities, mico- and nanodosimetry as well as proton and heavy ion radiotherapy.
