Alexandros Douralis

Alexandros Douralis

Scientist

Alexandros obtained a MSc in Medical Physics with Distinction from the University of Surrey in 2017, after receiving a full scholarship from the British Council, as the IELTS Award winner 2016 (Greece). Before that, he received a BSc in Physics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece).

In October 2017 he joined the Medical Radiation Physics group at NPL. One of his main responsibilities involve the calibration of ionisation chamber detectors, for the dosimetry of electron and Megavoltage x-ray treatment beams. Moreover, he is involved with the beam data acquisition during the commissioning of clinical Linear Accelerators on behalf of hospital radiotherapy centres.

Areas of interest

Alexandros is actively participating in projects that involve the primary standards of absorbed dose for photon and proton beams in the UK, as well as the use of small volume ionisation chambers under non-reference conditions such as the small fields. He has also started receiving training on the use of EGS code for Monte Carlo simulations.
