Abstract:

The extensional flow behaviour of polymer melts is very important in processing. This guide details the measurement of the extensional flow properties of polymer melts using converging flow methods. It presents an intercomparison of the predictions of various models, an assessment of uncertainties and a comparison with data obtained using a tensile method to demonstrate the validity of the converging flow approach.
