Witold Chalupczak
Primary microwave frequency standards
Witold received his PhD from the Jagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland in 1994 for work on optical non-linear phenomena (four wave mixing, conical emission, etc). For that work he was awarded the Polish Ministry of Education Award for Scientific achievements (1995) and the Rector of the Jagiellonian University Award for scientific achievements (1994, 1995). He joined the University of Rochester, USA as a Fulbright Fellow in 1996, where he worked with Prof. N P Bigelow on two-species traps and cold molecules. Witold joined NPL in 2001. Currently, his main research interest is in the development of a microwave frequency standard based on a caesium atomic fountain.
Witold is a member of the Optical Society of America.
