Alanine reference dosimetry service for 1 MeV to 4 MeV industrial electron beams

NPL alanine dosimeters, specifically designed for 1 MeV to 4 MeV industrial electron beams, are available pre-packaged in convenient holders.

Service delivery

A phantom set enables the alanine dosimeters to be irradiated alongside films for calibration. The design of the phantom assures both films and alanine dosimeters are accurately located at the same point on the depth dose curve. On return to NPL, the dose received by the alanine is determined by measuring the concentration of stable free radicals using electron paramagnetic resonance spectrometry.
