Masaya Kataoka
Biography

Masaya Kataoka was born in Osaka, Japan, in 1972. He received the BEng degree in Electrical Engineering from Kobe University in 1995, the MSc degree in Physics from Lancaster University in 1996, and the PhD dgree in Physics from the University of Cambridge in 2000.
His PhD work was on electron transport through edge states in quantum antidots.
After his PhD, Masaya worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Cavendish Laboratory, investigating single-electron transport using surface acoustic waves.
Current Interests
In 2009, Masaya joined the Quantum Detection Group at NPL as a Senior Research Scientist, and is currently working on semiconductor single-electron pumps.
