Joseph Thom
Current interests

Joseph Thom is currently working on micro fabricated ion traps, which may one day form the basis of a scaleable quantum computer.
He is also interested in the development and stabilisation of the laser systems required to mediate ion-photon interactions.
Biography
Joseph graduated with a MPhys from the University of St Andrews in June 2010.
He joined the Quantum Detection group in September to start the research component of an EngD in Optics and Photonics Technologies, which is jointly coordinated between NPL and the University of Strathclyde.
