UK funds 'super-material'

NPL is collaborating with Royal Holloway, University of London, who run a project focusing on using graphene to develop new equipment that can operate at high frequencies. This could include devices useful for security purposes, which can detect the presence of explosives and drugs remotely, as well as those that could be used in health screening to produce detailed images of blood vessels.

Royal Holloway is among a select universities who received UK funding of £21.6 million to explore the commercial uses for graphene. UCL (University College London) is an another collaborator in this project.
