Structural Testing

NPL's research in structural testing focuses in the experimental validation of test methods developed in research programmes. This allows the UK to submit well drafted documents, supported by precision data. These data are generally missing from most published standards, reducing the confidence in their use in critical conditions.

Further work will involve preparing New Work Item (NWI) proposals at a suitable time for the composite double notched shear, the adhesive thick adherend and the composite pin-bearing test. For the through-thickness test, further work will involve the pursuance of the round-robin.
