Mechanical shock testing 

A shock testing system has been designed and built by the Electronics Interconnection group.

The acceleration rate and shock pulse width can be accurately controlled, and monitored using an accelerometer and oscilloscope. This is useful for looking at attachment integrity, e.g. whisker integrity.

Common applications:

  • Application of shock testing on printed circuit assemblies to evaluate solder joint reliability
