Tuz Golu Campaign

Project Dates: 2010

Establishing characterised reference sites for satellite calibration involves taking measurements at each site. It is important that the methodologies used to take these measurements are consistent between sites and between the different teams taking these measurements.

In 2010, a field campaign was undertaken at Tuz Golu in Turkey to understand the biases introduced through the use of different teams. This was undertaken by comparing the instruments of each team to standards provided by NPL and then taking measurements of a specific area and comparing the results.

As well as understanding the biases, the aim of the experiment was to develop robust best practice guidance in accordance with the principles of QA4EO.
