Radiometric Calibration Network (RadCalNet)

Project Dates: Ongoing

The Radiometric Calibration Network (RadCalNet) working group is a sub-group of the Committee on Earth Observation Satellite (CEOS) Working Group on Calibration and Validation (WGCV). The aim of the sub-group is to set up a network of radiometric test sites against which satellite-borne sensors in the optical domain can be calibrated during flight. Each of the sites will have long-term monitoring equipment deployed at it and Top of Atmosphere (TOA) nadir reflectance data will be provided every 30 minutes from 9 am to 3 pm local time.

NPL is a founding member of the RadCalNet working group, with Emma Woolliams and Nigel Fox members of this working group, and is also involved in producing standard procedures for and ensuring SI-traceability of the whole RadCalNet network, including also sites in France, China and the USA.
