Performance verification of articulated arm CMMs

An articulated arm coordinate-measuring machine (CMM) is checked against specification before being delivered, but how sure can you be that it is performing to that same standard today?

Articulated arms are, by their very nature, portable but easily subjected to knocks during normal usage and transportation that could affect their performance. The only way to be sure is to have your arm regularly verified.

NPL provides a unique, high accuracy UK-based service with fast turnaround for performance verification of Articulated arm CMMs, delivered using our custom-built verification facility.

Our ISO 17025 (UKAS) accredited procedures are fully compliant with the internationally recognised standard ASME B89.4.22 that exercises the full range of movement of the arm.

Pre-check to assess basic performance
Performance verification of all makes of articulated arm CMMs to the recognised ASME B89 standard within a temperature controlled environment
NPL is the only establishment in the UK able to carry out ISO 17025 (UKAS) accredited verifications that fully meet the requirements of ASME B89
Determination of effective diameter, single point articulation (SPAT) and volumetric performance
Artefacts used in verifications are all calibrated at NPL (and therefore directly traceable to national standards for length) achieving low measurement uncertainties together with a high level of measurement confidence
Verification against manufacturer's in-house procedures
Arrangement of service and repairs with OEMs should this be needed
Target turnaround of 5 working days from delivery to return.
