Rheological properties including viscosity
NPL's aims are to develop test methodologies for the rheological properties of materials, covering both a wide range of techniques and materials. Techniques which NPL have developed and contributed to the development of international standard on include:
- Capillary extrusion rheometry
- Rotational rheometry
- Oscillatory rheometry
- Extensional rheometry
- Melt flow rate testing
- PZT piezoelectric device
Areas of rheological research
- Testing of moisture sensitive polymers
- Characterisation of gels for biotechnological applications
- Characterisation of curing systems
- Filled materials, including nano-composites
