High Accuracy Gas Standards for Ambient Atmospheric Monitoring

Air Quality Monitoring

Standard gas mixtures are an accurate and cost-effective method for calibrating ambient atmospheric monitors. They are stable and provide a repeatable reference concentration that can be used for high precision calibrations.

Each standard contains one or more accurately-weighed component in a matrix of whole or synthetic air.

Mixtures are available at ambient atmospheric concentrations and at ranges to meet customers' requirements:

Gaseous Species

Amount Fraction
Range (mol/mol)

Methane 1.8×10-6
Nitrous oxide 300×10-9
Carbon dioxide 380 ×10-6
Carbon monoxide 100×10-9

NPL's gas standards are certified for a period up to three years depending on the stability of the mixture. NPL offers a cost-effective re-certification service after the initial certification period has expired, ensuring temporal consistency of gas traceability.
