Gas Standards for Medical Diagnostic and Leak Detection Monitors

Gas Standards

Standard gas mixtures are an accurate and cost-effective method for calibrating medical diagnostic monitors for blood gas, lung diffusion and leak detection monitors. They are stable and provide a repeatable reference concentration that can be used for regular calibration of monitors.

Each standard contains accurately-weighed components.

Mixtures are available for calibrations of monitors with the following components:

Medical Diagnostic / Leak Detection

Gaseous Species

Matrix

Amount Fraction Range (mol/mol)

Carbon dioxide Oxygen 50×10-2  – 500×10-6
Carbon monoxide / Oxygen / Helium Nitrogen / Air 50×10-2  – 500×10-6
Sulphur hexafluoride Nitrogen 50×10-4  – 500×10-9
Helium Nitrogen 50×10-3  – 500×10-6

NPL's gas standards are certified for a period up to five years depending on the stability of the mixture. NPL offers a cost-effective re-certification service after the initial certification period has expired, ensuring temporal consistency of gas traceability.
